Over 100,000 Britons Buy Homes in Dubai

DUBAI, 15 November 2006 — Dubai is one of the fastest emerging cities in the world, and its popularity among Britons looking to retire, or buy a second home, has made it an ideal “place in the sun”, according to Dubai Properties. Over 100,000 Britons have purchased homes in Dubai since the start of the property boom in 2002. Dubai is competing with Spain and France in the second-home market, with both countries accounting for roughly 35 percent and 24 percent respectively of British homes overseas.

Tamweel Signs Deal With Bin Manana

DUBAI, 15 November 2006 — Tamweel, the UAE’s leading residential and commercial real estate finance provider, announced yesterday that it signed an agreement with Bin Manana Investment Group to extend financing to the newly launched state-of-the-art commercial units at Lam Tara Towers, a twin-tower development located on Sheikh Zayed Road. Saraya Aqaba, Saudi Oger in Deal

DUBAI, 15 November 2006 — The second phase agreement of Saraya Aqaba construction contract was signed between Saraya Aqaba & Saudi Oger Ltd., marking the largest construction contract at real estate development sector in Jordan worth a total of $700 million. Joseph Al-Helo, assistant general manager for Saudi Oger International Operations, represented Saudi Oger Ltd., while Dr. Khalid Wazani, former general manager of Saraya Aqaba, represented Saraya’s side.

Saudi Delegation Visits AUS

SHARJAH, 15 November 2006 — A high-ranking delegation from various Saudi universities visited the American University of Sharjah (AUS) campus yesterday. The 28-member delegation comprised officials from 11 prominent government universities in Saudi Arabia. The delegation met with AUS Chancellor Dr. Winfred Thompson, who briefed the visitors on the history of the AUS, the academic programs offered at the University and the success achieved by the University since its inception.
