RIYADH, 30 November 2006 — Saudi television film artists were disappointed to learn that no Saudi won any prizes at the Cairo Television and Radio festival, which concluded last week, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday.

“Several talented artists, such as Nasser Al-Gosaibi and Abdullah Al-Sadahan, who won many awards for their roles in ‘Tash Ma Tash’ and ‘Asatir Shaabiah’ at several festivals, really deserved recognition at the Cairo festival,” said actor Abdul Rahman Al-Khateb.

Actor Abdullah Al-Sinani, citing a lack of competition in the industry, admitted that Saudi productions were not up to the standard of Arab productions.
