AMMAN, 24 December 2006 — Production has started on “Al-Ejtiyah” (“The Total Devastation”), a TV docudrama that addresses the daily sufferings of Palestinians, according to a report in yesterday’s Al-Yaum newspaper. Tunisian director Shauqi Al-Majeri said he wants to portray the human struggles of freedom, love, hatred, greed, and revenge. The film asserts that the terror — whether it is state-sponsored or individually undertaken — or the violent heroic acts motivated by a sense of patriotism results in chaos and destruction.

In the film produced by the Arab Center for Audio and Video Services, the director mixes real archival footage of the Palestinian struggle with dramatic fictional scenes. The footage includes several scenes from the lives of Palestinian fighters Muhammad Reihan and Mahmoud Twalebah who were killed in the Israeli demolition and massacre at the Jenin refugee camp in 2002.

The film also sheds light on the passionate human relations that people have in the fog of violence and hatred cutting across ideological and ethnic barriers. The ultimate message of the film is that the human beings by nature love peace and justice because.
