DHAHRAN, 5 February 2007 — The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers in the Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia (PICE-EPSA) has conducted a training seminar on construction safety management to its members.
Held at the Dhahran Palace Hotel, about 100 Filipino civil engineers were taught to be more safety-conscious in all their daily activities.
“Civil engineers take the lead role in any construction project. Before other disciplines like the mechanical and the electrical engineers come into the picture, the civil engineers had to build first the structure,” PICE president Zoilo Caringal said.
The seminar is part of the continuing education program of PICE-EPSA, which also include topics on Civil Processes in Piperack Erection, Overview on Loss Control Management, and the use of the new Windows Vista and Office 2007.
“We have to empower the Filipino civil engineers through enhancement of their technical knowledge to anticipate the fast-increasing construction demand in the Kingdom,” Caringal said.
The new officers of PICE-EPSA were also installed during their general membership assembly, with Labor Attaché Delmer Cruz administering the oath.
The officers are Zoilo Caringal, president; Ranito Pugay, 1st vice president; Rodante Agregado, 2nd vice president; Noel Galarpe, secretary; Roselo Floresta, treasurer; Edward Guarino, auditor; Abdullah Macala, business manager; and Jose Danga, press relations officer.
