JEDDAH, 16 March 2007 — Special rules will apply to Jeddah Cricket League’s Premium Division and Under-12 series, sponsored by Pehla Premium Asian Entertainment Television, which kicks off today.
The boundary line will be of a 30 meter radius. There will be no inner circle. A single wicket competitor will have to bowl a minimum of 12 balls. Any wide or no ball will be counted as four runs and any ground shot that crosses the boundary line will be taken as six runs. A shot over the boundary line will be counted as 10 runs.
A batsman will get two lives – the first time he gets out he loses four runs and the second time eight runs.
If the batsman gets out twice before the end of his 12-ball quota, he will not face any more balls. There will be a total 6 fielders plus a wicketkeeper other than the bowler. A maximum of three players will field on each side of the wicket. Players will don white dress and shoes.
JCL is enrolling individuals, institutions, and JCL-registered or new clubs for all the three U-12 cricket events free of charge. JCL will supply the entire kit including bats, gloves, pads, balls, stumps, first aid kits, drinking water, soft drinks, snacks, chairs and all other logistic support on its grounds. It has taken into account the need of parents, teachers and physical instructors who are expected to turn up in large numbers. The first three winners will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. Awards will also be given to their parents, teachers and physical instructors or directors. Prizes for best batsman, best bowler, best all rounder, best wicketkeeper and best fielder will also be given. Best fielder will be judged on the basis of the number of catches he takes and runouts he makes. JCL and Pehla certificates will be presented to all U-12 participants. Syed Mutaharuddin Haqani, father of a U-12 participant, has congratulated Aijaz Ahmed Khan of JCL for organizing the tournament. “Despite being very busy and away from home, someone sparing his time for the welfare of the youth is something to be appreciated. I extend my best wishes and greetings to you and all other members of the JCL executive team for sparing your time and effort for the event,” Haqani said.
