Community Policing From September

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 2 June 2007 — The state government will launch community policing in all areas within the city and municipal corporations on a trial basis from Sept. 1, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said.

“Community policing introduced in some colonies and residential areas proved successful and we are now extending it to other areas,” Balakrishnan told a meeting of top police officials here. “It has been very successful in Kochi in containing crime where residents earlier used to complain about thefts and burglaries,” he added.
