Recently, Yusuf Islam has been making a return to the mainstream music scene. What isn’t widely known is that he spends at least a portion of each year now in Dubai, recording his music and attending to business at Jamal Records (www.jamalrecords.com).

A producer and distributor of Islamic music albums, Jamal Records aims to fill the spiritual needs of people in an entertaining and educational way, looking to transcend the boundaries of faiths and cultures in sharing a message of peace and hope worldwide. Previously existing as a division of Yusuf Islam’s Mountain of Light Productions, Jamal Records has relocated from London and is now based in the UAE, operating officially as an Independent Record Label. Its affiliation with Mountain of Light Productions and Yusuf Islam continues as exclusive worldwide distributor and producers of his titles and label. Jamal Records plans to continue to strive to introduce inspiring Islamic and spiritual songs. The company believes that by creating positive and reflective music, its artists increase people’s understanding of each another and help build social bridges in our world. A portion of the profits from the sale of Jamal Records’ titles is assigned to the charity organization “Small Kindness,” which aims to help widows and orphans worldwide.

A few months back Yusuf Islam was in Dubai at Jamal Records’ in-house studio to begin work on the follow-up album “I Look, I See” 2. The first “I Look I See” album was aimed at children and included nine songs, with each song followed by a brief spoken word piece which told of the deeds of the Prophets of Islam, the Five Pillars of Islam and other Islamic practices. The new album is due for release this Ramadan. It will feature two tracks from Yusuf one of which is aptly titled “Ramadan Moon.”

Through www.jamalrecords.com, individuals interested in spiritual music can listen to a selection of titles and then purchases can be made online. Jamal Records has just launched two new online stores, one of which covers the Middle East and Africa and the other for the Far East and Australia. The company is offering free shipping on all purchases from these stores until July.
