MWDO Unveils Plan for Stranded Pakistanis

JEDDAH, 7 June 2007 — The Muslim Welfare and Development Organization, working to alleviate the suffering of stranded Pakistanis living in Bangladesh camps, held a function here on Tuesday night to unveil its future plan and highlight welfare activities.

Abu Farhan Siddiqui, who visited camps of the stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh recently, said the organization was supporting 450 destitute families by providing them subsistence allowance every month. MWDO also takes care of their medical needs and education, he said.

He said a ceremony was held in camps to award outstanding students of class IX and X. Siddiqui said 13 marriages were solemnized in Adamjee, Chittagong and Bogra camps with the help of MWDO. He said his organization planned to distribute food packets for iftar and sehr in the camps this year also and urged the audience to support the welfare activities of MWDO.

He said six people from the camps had come to Dubai on work visas sent by the son of Dr. Javed Anwarul Hasan, a Pakistani national, while one work visa has been sent from Jeddah.

Other speakers included Syed Mahtab Ahmad, Aslam Hatim, Abu Tariq Mohammad Hejazi and Dr. Javed Anwarul Hasan.
