Zam Zam Cleaning System Implemented

MAKKAH, 20 June 2007 — Muhammad ibn Nasir Al-Khozaim, deputy president general of Haram Mosque Affairs, commissioned a fully automated system to sterilize the cisterns that store Zam Zam water in the precincts of the Grand Mosque yesterday. The new facility has the capacity to handle 6,300 cisterns daily. The inside and outside of the coolers are cleaned with ordinary water and then they are dried before filling them with the Zam Zam water. The coolers are changed annually and their numbers increased in the Ramadan and Haj seasons. In another development, the presidency has installed an electronic applications unit to prepare and implement the electronic applications at the presidency and the supervision of the Internet unit. The presidency intends to connect all its administrative offices in a networking system. More than 400 employees of its various administrative offices have been trained in handling computer systems.

Officials Raise Vaccine Awareness

MAKKAH, 20 June 2007 — Health Minister Dr. Hamad Al-Manie opened on Sunday at the Sulaimania Health Center a public awareness campaign on the importance of vaccinations. The event organized by the Preventive Medicine Department aims at giving children vaccinations from their birth until school age, said Dr. Khaled Al-Zahrani, assistant undersecretary for preventive medicine at the Ministry of Health. “The ministry organizes similar campaigns to encourage the public to take preventive measurers to protect their children from various kinds of diseases,” Al-Zahrani said. Two more campaigns will be launched in Abha and Taif this summer, he added.
