RIYADH, 2 July 2007 — Saudi Telecom Company (STC) will offer a 40 percent discount on all international calls during the weekend starting from Thursday, Saad Ibn Dhafer Al-Qahtani, vice president of marketing and sales of STC, told Arab News yesterday.
He said that the offer will be valid for the next three months and that the reduction would include for clients who use land telephone, mobile phone, SAWA, LANA , prepaid cards (Zajoul, Allo, Marhaba, Interkey and Salam).
“The purpose of the new service is to enable STC customers to contact their loved ones back home at a concessional rate during their holidays. The special offer will start at 12 pm on Thursday, and will last for 36 hours.” STC subscribers can avail of this new service every week,” Al-Qahtani added.
Meanwhile, a senior official from STC said that the STC is planning to give special discounts on international calls on the national days of countries whose workers are deployed in the Kingdom. STC gave 50 percent discounts to Filipinos on their national day in June and it is to give similar discounts to United States on Wednesday on the US Independence Day.
“An announcement to this effect is yet to be made,” he added.
Recently, Aljawal, the mobile service of the STC, officially launched international video calling with Voda phone company in Egypt. Through this scheme, Aljawal customers are able to use this service with 6 countries through seven operators in the countries such as Qatar, Kuwait ,UAE, Bahrain ,Egypt and France.With this new service, Egyptian residents in the Kingdom are able to communicate with their families and friends by voice and by video.
