CAIRO, 10 July 2007 — Several websites have reportedly prematurely released Amr Diab’s latest album “Al-Layla Di” a week ahead of its official release on July 15.
Amr Diab announced earlier that the album would be released on July 7, but the album’s production company, Rotana, decided to postpone the date by one week because it felt that the promotion for the album was insufficient.
As part of its promotion activities, Rotana permitted Vodafone to use some of the songs to sell as ring tones. Some of the music sites did not, however, stick to Rotana’s changed release date and released the songs in advance enabling members to download them, according to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur on Sunday.
Some have blamed the gaffe on Rotana, going as afar as accusing it of causing the confusion as retribution for the artist having recently dropped the company.
