JEDDAH, 24 July 2007 — Bentley’s Arnage cars that have been technically improved were in focus at a media conference in Jeddah on Sunday.

“Saudi Arabia has become the second largest market for Bentley in the Middle East, after the UAE,” Sherif Yehia Soliman, car division manager of Bentley at Saudi Arabian Markets Ltd. (SAM), said.

At least four models in the Arnage range are available in the Saudi market, with the new Arnage Brooklands slated for introduction in early 2008.

“The Brooklands, displayed at the Geneva Motor Show this year, will be available in the Kingdom and elsewhere in the Middle East by February,” he said.

The Arnage R comes with the extremely high level of specification that one would expect from a hand-built, luxury car. Powered by a 6.75-liter turbocharged V8 engine, this car zooms 0-60mph in just 5.9 seconds.

The Arnage RL is like stepping into a whole new world — a world that goes beyond the accepted conventions of luxury travel. The RL offers the opportunity to create a truly bespoke vehicle. The “L” actually stands for “long wheelbase” and it is these extra 10 inches of space that allow for additional comfort, exquisite detailing and advanced technology. It is a car that reflects the individuality of its owner perfectly. The Arnage T presents the aura of a thoroughbred — “One of the world’s great driver’s cars, pure and simple.” It delivers power and acceleration from a 6.75 liter V8 engine. The Arnage Azure convertible is one other model that is becoming popular here, he said, adding that Bentley cars are being increasingly preferred as these luxury cars are built to specific Saudi specifications and for high-end users.

“We offer luxurious accessories and additional features that our Saudi owners look forward to,” Soliman said.

SAM General Manager Mohammed Thabit introduced Sarah Idrees as the company’s new director of marketing and media for Bentley, which continues to be manufactured at Crewe factory in England since 1919. “Sixty percent of the cars are handmade by highly skilled professionals,” he said, adding that demand for Bentley cars are on the increase. As many as 10,000 Bentley cars are manufactured annually now, marking an 800 percent increase over 2003.
