PBS’ ‘Kalam Nawaem’ Documentary Aired

JEDDAH, 1 August 2007 — A documentary on the popular “Kalam Nawaem” talk show on MBC was aired on the PBS television network last night in the US. The show, similar to “The View” originated by Barbara Walters on ABC, features four Arab women — Fawzia Salamah, Muna Abu Suleiman, Farah Besaiso, and Rania Bargout — discussing in front of a live audience current issues in the Middle East and the world.

The documentary was produced by the PBS Wide Angle series and broadcasted under the title “Dishing Democracy.” It will be aired again tonight, on Aug. 21 and Aug. 27.

A Dutch version of the documentary is being finalized and a longer version will also be made for international festivals.
