Riyadh Cement Out in Market

RIYADH — The newly established Riyadh Cement Co (RRC) has decided, following a successful trial run, to market its products effective from tomorrow, according to the decision of a meeting of its board of directors, held under its chairman Prince Faisal ibn Abdul Majeed. RRC, which has presently a capacity to produce 5,000 tons of best quality Portland cement per day, plans to double the capacity shortly. The company has been constructed in collaboration with a Chinese company while a Finnish company is installing a huge power generator for it. It has got one of the largest stone crushers in the Kingdom, according to a company statement yesterday.
Deutsche Bank Hires Greenspan

BERLIN — Germany’s biggest bank, Deutsche Bank, said yesterday it has hired former US Federal Reserve Board chairman Alan Greenspan as a senior advisor. The bank said Greenspan, who left the US central bank in January last year, would offer insights on the “current and future developments in world financial markets” to staff and clients of its investment banking division. Deutsche Bank chairman Josef Ackermann said Greenspan would bring “profound knowledge” to the job. “As one of the architects of today’s financial systems, Alan Greenspan is in a unique position to support our clients in making important decisions that carry risk.”
Malaysia Airlines ‘Super Low’ Fares

KUALA LUMPUR — Flag-carrier Malaysia Airlines yesterday said it would offer “super low” airfares for advanced bookings this week for international destinations. Travelers can enjoy up to 75 percent discount on all airfares, except those for Australia, if they book online for travel between January and May next year. “We want to encourage more people to book online as it has never been easier, especially as we move toward electronic ticketing this year,” said Malaysia Airlines commercial director Rashid Khan.
