JEDDAH, 3 September 2007 — The Pakistani staff at Saudi German Hospital’s construction group celebrated their country’s Independence Day recently.
Pakistani Consul General Zaighamuddin Azam, who was the chief guest, referred to the sacrifices of subcontinent’s Muslims that led to the creation of the country on the basis of two-nation theory.
“It’s our duty to work with unity to accomplish the country’s objectives,” he said. He lauded the country’s excellent relations with the Kingdom and urged the community to continue to abide by the Kingdom’s rules and regulations. Ghulam Shabbir Shah said there was no substitute for hard work.”
SGH Group President Sobhi Batterjee had set an example to fulfill his mission through sheer hard work of constructing 30 world-class hospitals in different countries.” SGH is building hospitals in Dubai, Cairo and Ethiopia, and has already built health care facilities in Yemen in addition to Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha and Hail.
PRC Convener Ehsanul Haque praised Shabbir Shah’s commitment and hard work to project the image of Pakistan by completing more than 10 SGH projects and gearing to complete another 20 projects with his Pakistani team. “On the occasion of the country’s 60th independence anniversary, we should not forget our Kashmiri brethren who are still waiting for their right of self- determination and a quarter million patriotic Pakistanis who have spent 36 years of miserable life at camps in Bangladesh,” he added. Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Dr. Amjad Obaid also spoke. Poets Naseem Sehar and Mohsin Alavi presented songs on Quaid-e-Azam and Independence Day.
Iftikhar Hussain conducted the proceedings. Qari Abdul Majeed recited Qur’anic verses. Those present included Consul Welfare Shoukat Ali and Dr. Nawaz Ahmed, and Mateen Aslam of PNC and Rafiq Al-Zayyan of SGH group.
