JEDDAH, 15 September 2007 — Al-Ahli made up for the loss against Al-Hazem last month in a big way crushing Shabab 3-1 in the second round of the Saudi Football League Tournament Thursday night.
Ahli came to Riyadh determined to return three points from the match against Shabab. Nunez opened the score for Ahli in the 11th minute from a header in front of the goalie. Shabab received a hard hit when two of their defenders, Zaid Al-Muwallad and Mansour Al-Dossary, were red carded in the 50th and 54th minute.
Ahli’s second goal came in the 55th minute from a penalty kick by Khaled Badra. The same player scored the third goal for Ahli in the 66th minute after he received a nice cross in front of the goal.
Shabab’s only goal came in the 70th minute from Martinez. With the result of this match, Ahli jumped temporarily to the fifth position with three points. Shabab are in the eighth position on two points.
In the other match, Al-Ittifaq crushed Wehda 4-1 in another one-sided match. Despite the defeat, Wehda remain top of the group with six points, while Ittifaq are in the fourth position with 3 points.
