JEDDAH, 25 September 2007 — Hamad Al-Muntashiri is to renew his contract with Al-Ittihad for at least SR7 million. This is the offer being dangled by Al-Hilal in addition to a luxury car and Al-Munstashiri wants his mother club to either top or match the offer for him to stay in Jeddah, according to a sport journalist who is close to Al-Muntashiri.
AFC Delegation Arrives
JEDDAH — A delegation from the Asian Professional Committee of the Asian Football Federation arrived yesterday in Dammam on a nine-day visit to the Kingdom. The delegation includes Tokuaki Suzuki, deputy-chairman at the AFC Professional League Committee. Saudi Arabian Football Federation Secretary General Faisal Al-Abdulhadi said the visit was arranged on orders of Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of the Saudi Youth Welfare and the Saudi Football Federation, and his deputy Prince Nawaf ibn Faisal. During their stay in the country the visitors would be taken on a tour of Al-Qadisiya club as well as Al-Aittifaq, Al-Shabab, Al-Nasr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli and its football academy, football stadiums and the Arriyadi newspaper office.
NCB Soccer Quarterfinals Today
JEDDAH — The quarterfinal matches in the 3rd National Commercial Bank (NCB) Ramadan annual soccer tournament will start today with Mohammed Aboud Al-Amoudi football team taking on Ajwaa Company team and NCB playing Al-Fao Bagaddou International. Tomorrow, Bugshan Company meet Bridgestone and Al-Hada Water Company face Abdulkhaliq Saeed Company. Meanwhile, event organizers on Sunday gave away additional prizes to spectators. The evening was spiced with special folkloric and traditional dances and music to celebrate the Saudi national day.
Saudi Sports Media Men Honored
JEDDAH — The Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a function to honor the Saudi sports media men in recognition of their contributions to the Kingdom in the field of charity, humanitarian and volunteer work. An award was presented in memory of Abdullah Al-Dabal, the late AFC Executive Committee member from Saudi Arabia who passed away in January this year to honor his achievements in the Saudi, Gulf, Arab and Asian football in general. The award was dubbed “Abdullah Al-Dabal’s Award for National Volunteer Work.”
Al-Mihayyani Top Saudi League Scorer
JEDDAH — Eissa Al-Mihayyani of Al-Wehda club is the leading scorer one month into the Saudi Football League with four goals. Al-Mihayyani was also the top scorer with 16 goals in the last Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup.
SAF Announce 2008 Schedule
JEDDAH — The Saudi Athletics Federation announced it would participate in nine international events in a busy 2008 schedule starting with the 12th World Cup to be held in Spain from March 7 to 9. The Saudi national team will afterwards compete in the 19th Arab Athletics Championship in Yemen or Djibouti, and in the 33rd Cross-Country Championship to be staged in Birmingham, UK on March 30. In April, Oman will host the GCC Athletic Championship, where the team are also competing. Next up for the team is the 12th Athletics World Cup for Youth in Poland from July 8 to 13 followed by the 28th Beijing Olympics 2008 from Aug. 15 to 24, the 13th Athletics Asian Championship for youth in Jakarta, the 13th Athletics Arab Championship for youth in Oman in September, and the GCC Cross-Country Championship in December in Oman. Meanwhile, three events are left on the 2007 calendar for the team namely 2nd Asian Athletics Indoor from Oct. 30 to Nov.1, 11th Pan Arab Games in Egypt in Oct., and the GCC Cross-Country championship to be held here.
