JEDDAH, 10 October 2007 — The “Second Pakistan Specific Week Catalog Show” will be held from Nov. 3 to 7 at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hijab Gul, commercial counselor at the Consulate General of Pakistan said yesterday.
The event aims to project Pakistan as a hub of trade and investment and demonstrate its growth in the services sector. It will also highlight the potentials of the private sector in Pakistan, Gul said.
Emphasizing the need to strengthen Saudi-Pak economic relations, the commercial counselor said the event will provide an opportunity to Pakistani firms to introduce their products in the Saudi market.
He said the event would have a four-day catalog show and a forum, which will be inaugurated by Ambassador Shahid Karimullah.
Discussions at the forum will focus on bilateral trade. There will be discussions on bilateral investment, Pakistan’s privatization plan, possibility for joint ventures and investment opportunities.
“Business opportunities are tremendous, our domestic market is growing and we can offer foreign businessmen access to the tremendous market of the landlocked Central Asian countries,” Gul said.
On display will be catalogs, brochures and samples of products manufactured by Pakistani firms. Various trade delegations from Pakistan will be taking part in the show. They will include a delegation of women entrepreneurs. Pakistani pharmaceutical firms will also showcase their products in the event, Gul said.
Representatives of the participating firms will be available for discussions and one-on-one meetings.
There would also be a forum in which prominent speakers from OIC, IDB and ministries will speak on free trade agreement between GCC states and issues concerning WTO. Representatives of trade missions of the OIC-member countries will be invited to take part in panel discussions and interactive debates.
