DUBAI, 14 November 2007 — Samsung yesterday launched Samsung D880, the newest dual SIM card mobile phone that brings both attractive design and various multimedia features to Samsung’s advanced mobile phones portfolio.
The dual SIM card slider has a stylish look featuring a shining front surface and measures at 18.9mm thick. The compact slide up design is easy to carry and use, while the sleek and sophisticated surface adds professional polish to the user’s style.
In a statement, Steve Han, general manager of the hand-held phones division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, said: “Samsung D880 automatically switches between SIM cards according to the consumer’s needs and network access. The phone enables the user to use two active lines separately which eliminates the need to carry one phone per active SIM card. With the new D880, the user can enjoy a hassle free mobile experience along with the functionality of two mobiles in one sleek unit.”
Meanwhile, Samsung has developed a Mobile Tracker that will make it easier to recover lost phones.
Samsung has already released Ultra Edition I and II portfolio that come with the Mobile Tracker system integrated along with an SOS Alert feature. This allows quick access to 5 predefined numbers in order to quickly send a distress SMS message. The system might also prove useful in the case of stolen mobile phones, and not only of the lost ones. This is ensured by the technology that Mobile Tracker uses.
Every time a new SIM card is inserted in the mobile phone, two pre-selected phone numbers automatically receive a prompt informing on the contact number of the new user. Interesting enough, this process takes place without the knowledge of the new user of the handset
Samsung also introduced its new user-friendly digital photo frame, SPF- 72H and SPF- 72V that represent a new concept in multimedia solutions. They let the user enjoy vibrant digital images, without turning on a PC or printing out photos.
Samsung also launched its latest innovations in audiovisual technology and showcased its latest full high-definition range of products form different categories across the region.
Designed to “inspire experiences for a digital life,” Samsung high definition products include 70” LED LCD TV, stylish compact video and music player, compact HD camcorders and the high definition PDP lineup.
