JEDDAH, 5 December 2007 — Al-Ittihad blasted Al-Qadisiya 99-48 and Ansar brought down Al-Hilal 76-66 in a pair of games that kicked off second round play last night in the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Basketball Championship at the Prince Abdullah Al-Fasial basketball hall here.
In the first game, Ittihad once again demolished Qadisiya in a sparkling display that had the Jeddah-based club going to their bench players in the second half. This will benefit them at the end of the tournament because their veterans will be fresh and the other teams will be playing players that have played seven games in 10 days.
Ansar went up by 14 points in the first half. Hilal fought back and cut the lead down to four points.
Each team plays two games in the second round.
Today’s games will be Qadisiya vs. Ohud, and Ansar vs. Ahli.
