AL-DULAM, 26 December 2007 — An Asian maid, fed up of waiting for her employer to pay her, decided to bring attention to her plight by climbing a tree, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported yesterday. The maid who worked for her employer in Al-Dulam town, southeast of Riyadh, sought refuge in a tall tree and refused to climb down until she was paid her salary. Her sponsor pleaded with her to come down and even sought neighbors’ help in convincing her to come down. When all efforts failed, her sponsor called the fire department to report what was probably a first case of its kind in the village. Firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to convince the maid to come down. The report did not mention if the maid was paid her salary or returned to her sponsor.
