JEDDAH, 29 December 2007 — A Filipino family in Jeddah yesterday sought help from the police and the community as a whole in locating a toddler who went missing Thursday night.

The missing child was identified as Amal Acub, 1 year and 7 months old. She is the daughter of Abdullah and Farida Baguan Acub, from the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.

Amenodin Guiwa, a relative of the couple, said the toddler was separated from her parents while they were shopping at the gold souk in Jeddah’s Balad district at about 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Guiwa said Amal was playing with an elder sister and got lost amid a huge crowd. Anyone who finds the girl is requested to contact her parents at 05095-08519, or Guiwa at 05560-51069.
