HAFR AL-BATIN, 31 December 2007 — Police were recently called to the home of a man who reported that his maid was trying to commit suicide by slashing her wrists, Al-Yaum newspaper reported. Police managed to restrain the maid who was found in a toilet. The motive behind her suicide attempt is unclear. A police spokesman said they are keeping their investigations open and looking at the possibility of a murder attempt. The maid is currently in hospital and will be questioned after she recovers.
Armed Robbers Arrested
RIYADH, 31 December 2007 — Police arrested two Bangladeshi armed robbers who mugged a 43-year-old Pakistani man at knifepoint in a Riyadh street. The man reported the incident to police saying that the muggers had forced him to hand over money, his mobile phone and other valuable items. Woman Strangled in Jeddah
JEDDAH, 31 December 2007 — A 70-year-old woman was strangled to death at her home in a suspected burglary while her husband went out to pray at a local mosque, Al-Watan newspaper reported. The man returned home to find his wife in a toilet tied up and strangled. Around SR30,000 and jewelry was also found to be missing. The police are investigating the case to find clues to the murderer or murderers.
