Al-Hazem Hand Hilal Shock Loss

JEDDAH, 16 January 2008 — Al-Hazem handed Al-Hilal a shock 2-1 defeat in Al-Rass in third round action in the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Cup football tournament yesterday.

The kickoff time of three matches were advanced from evening to 4 p. m. due to the extreme cold weather. These matches were Hilal-Al-Hazem, Shabab against Najran in Riyadh and Taie against Ittihad in Hail.

Najran and Shabab drew 1-1. Shabab moved up to first place of Group B with seven points while Hilal are stuck in second place with 6 points.

Taie tied with Ittihad 0-0 in Hail. Ittihad, who have yet to win in the young competition, remained in fifth place with one point in Group A where Taie languished in last place on one point also but with inferior goal difference.

In Makkah, Wehda defeated Al-Watani 2-1 to claim three important points and advance to fourth place in Group A with 3 points. Al-Watani are third in the group with 6 points. Al-Qadisia shocked Al-Ittifaq 1-0 in Dammam, and the unexpected result pushed Qadisia to fifth place in Group B with three points and Ittifaq last with no points.

The main Group A match between Al-Nasr and Al-Ahli at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal in Jeddah ended in 2-2 draw. Nasr stayed top of the group with seven points equal with Ahli who are in second place on goal difference.
