Free Medicines Handed Out

JEDDAH, 29 January 2008 — A medical camp was organized by the Jeddah unit of SYS, a socio-cultural organization based in Kerala, in association with the Sharafia Rafa Polyclinic on the occasion of India’s Republic Day, here on Friday.

Indian Consul (Welfare) K.K. Vijayan opened the camp and Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed, Syed Ahdal Thangal, SYS Jeddah unit Secretary Mohammad Ali Faizee and Chemban Moideen Kutty, director of Rafa Clinic, were among those present. “This kind of humanitarian work is of great help to the community,” Vijayan said.

More than 1,600 people registered for the camp and underwent medical checkups. Special discount cards for one year at Rafa Polyclinic were given to the participants.

Free medicines were distributed at the camp by Jeddah-Kerala Pharmacists Forum under the supervision of their office bearers, Yahya K.K., Haneefa Parakkallil and Abdul Latheef Malayil.
