MADINAH , 4 February 2008 — A mother is offering SR20,000 to any one of her three sons who successfully stops smoking. The mother spoke to the Al-Watan daily yesterday and said that she had become aware of the dangers of smoking after watching a TV program. Since then she has tried unsuccessfully to convince her sons to quit smoking. She hopes that by offering money, her sons will take her seriously and kick the habit for good. The woman warned her sons should not think that getting the money would be an easy task. The woman is using her grandchildren to report on their father’s progress and will only hand over the money after they manage to stay away from cigarettes for an entire year.

Wife Refuses Massage, Gets Divorced

YANBU , 4 February 2008 — A 95-year-old man divorced his 81-year-old wife after she refused to massage his injured leg, the Al-Madinah daily reported yesterday. The man fractured his leg in a fall and demanded that his wife massage it to speed up his recovery. The woman refused to massage her husband’s leg saying that she was too old and needed someone to look after her. The two are now living in the same house but on different floors with their children and grandchildren.

The Crown Prince Cup match will see the two teams, both from Riyadh, reignite their old rivalry in what is a key elimination round. And a groom has found himself in the middle of the action, the Al-Riyadh daily reported yesterday. The groom scheduled his wedding ceremony on the same day without realizing that the two events clashed. Fearing that all his male friends would not attend, the groom made arrangements for giant TV screens to be placed throughout the wedding hall so guests could enjoy the match and the wedding.
