RIYADH, 6 March 2008 — Nine return air tickets to Morocco with free hotel accommodation will be on offer in the Royal Air Maroc International Trophy golf tournament at Dirab Golf Club tomorrow.
The shotgun-style tee-off is at 8 a.m. As of press time, some 70 players have registered and slots are still available, according to Dirab Golf Club Manager Bouchaib El Jadiani.
Moroccan Ambassador Abdul Karim Al-Sammar is expected to attend the event which will be held annually after the club and Morocco’s national flag carrier, represented by Regional Manager Abdul Qader Bouldjoun, signed an agreement. The Royal Air Maroc sponsorship of the tournament forms part of the airline’s efforts to promote golf tourism in Morocco. Its partnership with Dirab Golf Club is seen as a positive step in that direction.
Members of the Saudi national men’s and junior teams are among the players vying for the handsome prizes which will include in addition to the tickets golf merchandise and handmade items especially flown in from Morocco. Ali Al-Sahli and Mubarak Al-Ghamdi are coming down from the Eastern Province to join fellow national team member and Riyadh-based Fahad Al-Mansour in the competition. Yousef Al-Mahfouz, a Saudi Golf Federation representative from the Eastern Province, is also expected to travel to Riyadh.
Promising 12-year old Abdulrahman Al-Mansour is among the Saudi jungolfers seeing action.
The first two winners in the four divisions and low gross scorer will earn the free tickets to Morocco as the region’s representatives in the Royal Air Maroc International Trophy tournament to be held in Fes, Morocco in April.
