RIYADH, 23 April 2008 — Police arrested a 40-year-old Saudi man for allegedly stabbing to death his brother in a rest house located west of the capital, Riyadh police announced yesterday.
The police said they received information that a corpse was found in a pool of blood in the rest house. A special investigation team that examined the body determined the cause of death to three stabs. An empty whisky bottle was found at the scene.
After gathering information from neighbors and eyewitnesses, police were able to determine that the man had entered the rest house with another man. Police believe that a heated argument broke out between the brothers before one of them fatally stabbed the other. The police located the homicide suspect’s house in Al-Shifa district where he was arrested.
In another incident, Riyadh police arrested two Saudi nationals for allegedly raping a 14-year-old after they had kidnapped him.
According to the police, the father of the boy took him to a police station to report that he had been kidnapped and raped by unidentified local men.
The police were able to gather information on the descriptions of the alleged rapists as well as the description of their car from the boy. They were also able to gather information of the area he was taken where the alleged rape took place.
Riyadh Police then sent out a report to police units in nearby districts to be on the lookout for the suspects with the matching descriptions.
The two men were later arrested at a security checkpoint. Police say the men confessed that they had kidnapped the boy from the street. He was taken to an apartment where he was raped by the two. The men then dropped the boy in a different location. The two suspects are in police custody.
