THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India — The Kerala High Court yesterday annulled the election of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) candidate M.J. Jacob to the state Legislative Assembly from the Piravom constituency. The court found that his election agents engaged in a vilification campaign against his opponent T.M. Jacob, the Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader and former minister, in the run-up to the elections on April 29, 2006. Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan passed the order on an election petition filed by A Narayanan, a voter in the constituency.
