JUBAIL, 30 May 2008 — The Arabian Toastmasters Club organized a Youth Leadership Program in Jubail for Indian students from grades 8 to 12 recently.
Twenty-five adolescents took part in the monthlong program, which was coordinated by Sureshkumar Kalathil and sponsored by AYTB Company. A valedictory function was arranged at the end of the training program to recognize the participants.
Ajithkumar Gangadharan, Arabian Toastmasters Club president, welcomed the gathering and Deepthi Varghese, Youth Leadership Program president, opened the meeting. Omar B. Nasseruddin, AYTB president, was the chief guest and George James was the master of ceremonies. Twin brothers Sharath and Sharan Ommen and twin sisters Nannu and Munnu Anscelyn Dev were the contest masters for prepared speech and table topics.
Kushagra Sharma, Jocelyn Jose and Asif Ali Saudagar won the first, second and third places in the prepared speech contest. Jayetha Nandi, Deepthi Varghese and Shawn Misquith won the table topics contest. A panel of senior toastmasters led by PGR Nair served as judges.
The Just A Minute (JAM) session conducted by Jacob Kuriakose was hilarious for the contestants and spectators alike because of its liveliness and the humorous nature of interjections and objections.
It gave an insight into the vibrant nature of 12 selected participants. Jecelyn Jose won the first prize and Parinitha V.P. and Asif Ali Saudagar shared the second and third prizes. Adel Subahani, Prachi Desai and Shawn Misquith also stood out among the contestants with their energetic performance and witty objections. All the participants were given mementos and certificates.
P.J.J. Antony, Jacob Kuriakose, Ajithkumar, Dr. R.J. George, Raji Krishnan, P.G.R. Nair, Vasudhar Gopal, Martin Valooran, Abdul Sattar, Jagadeesan Kumar, K.K. James, Ommen Thomas, Sneha Suresh, Retchi Thomas, Jerry Clyton, Mohd Zainuddin and Jayan Thachampara were presented with mementos honoring their services as trainers, mentors and coordinators. Toastmasters Area Governor Paul Chirammel presented Chief YLP Coordinator Sureshkumar Kalatthil with a commemorative plaque honoring his pioneer services to the Youth Leadership Program.
