ISLAMABAD, 3 June 2008 — The president of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Shahbaz Sharif, was yesterday elected unopposed to the Punjab Assembly from Bhakkar. Sharif will likely become chief minister of Pakistan’s most populous and politically important Punjab province. Meanwhile, a six-member committee of the party would discuss today a draft constitutional package prepared by coalition partner Pakistan People’s Party.
Houses for Migrants
MUMBAI, 3 June 2008 — The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority will construct 500,000 houses of 160 square feet each in the next five years for migrants. According to the plan, the houses will be rented out to migrants flocking to Mumbai for jobs for between 800 rupees and 1,500 a month.
