BOSTON: St. Louis pitcher Kyle Lohse won his sixth straight start to steer the Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball Interleague play Friday.

The Cards prevailed in the first meeting of the two teams at Fenway Park since Curt Schilling famously pitched the Red Sox to victory in the 2004 World Series with blood oozing from his sock after surgery.

Lohse allowed just one earned run in six innings and snapped his winless streak against the Red Sox. He had been 0-3 with a 6.26 ERA against them in his career before joining St. Louis from Philadelphia this season.

Cubs 4 White Sox 3: In Chicago, Aramis Ramirez homered leading off the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Chicago Cubs a 4-3 victory over cross-town rival Chicago White Sox.

Angels 7 Phillies 1: In Philadelphia, Ervin Santana struck out nine batters in seven impressive innings, pitching Los Angeles to a win over Philadelphia. Santana allowed just one unearned run, overpowering the National League’s second-highest scoring offense with a slider and a fastball that reached 98 mph.

Athletics 7 Marlins 6, 11 Innings: In Oakland, California, Kurt Suzuki drove in the winning run in the 11th inning as Oakland edged Florida.

Astros 4 Rays 3: In St. Petersburg, Florida, Houston downed Tampa Bay to snap an eight-game losing streak. Astros pitcher Roy Oswalt rebounded from a poor outing to give up just two runs in 7 2-3 innings with five strikeouts. Carlos Lee had a two-run double for Houston.

Orioles 8 Brewers 5: In Milwaukee, Aubrey Huff went 4-for-5 with two homers as Baltimore beat Milwaukee.

Huff, who has five homers in the past five games and 14 this season, hit solo shots in the fourth and eighth innings. Baltimore’s bullpen pitched seven scoreless innings.

Reds 4 Yankees 2: In New York, Cincinatti ended a five-game skid by winning its first game at New York’s Yankee Stadium in 32 years.

Pirates 1, Blue Jays 0, 12 Innings: In Pittsburgh, Toronto shortstop John McDonald misplayed a hard-hit grounder with the bases loaded for a game-ending error that handed victory to Pittsburgh.

Nationals 4 Rangers 3, 14 Innings: In Washington, Elijah Dukes drove in the winning run with two outs in the 14th inning with his fifth hit as Washington edged Texas. Dukes, who has raised his average to .270 after an abysmal start to the season, went 5-for-6 with a home run, a double, two stolen bases, two runs and two RBIs.

Padres 6 Tigers 2: In San Diego, the home team ended a four-game losing streak by downing Detroit. Adrian Gonzalez drove in the go-ahead run with a bases-loaded single in the eighth inning.

Mets score win over Rockies

In Denver: The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 7-2 in the National League on Friday, with Carlos Delgado hitting a two-run homer amidst a five-run second inning. Interim manager Jerry Manuel won for the second straight game, his first consecutive wins since taking over for the fired Willie Randolph.

New York pitcher John Maine made a shaky start, conceding a two-run homer in the first inning, but blanked the Rockies after that, retiring eight straight at one point.

He also had six strikeouts. Delgado’s second-inning homer was the 442nd of his career, tying him with Dave Kingman for 34th on the all-time home run list.
