JEDDAH: Justice P.K. Shamsuddin, former judge at Kerala High Court, has emphasized that all basic human rights are protected in Islam. “The rules and regulations in Islam are rich enough to make a universal human rights declaration,” he said.
Shamsuddin was speaking at the concluding ceremony of Indian Islahi Center’s silver jubilee here recently. He quoted extensively from the Qur’an and Sunnah to support his argument that all universally declared human rights are preserved in Islam.
Shamsuddin released the center’s silver jubilee souvenir, which contains a number of informative articles, by presenting a copy to Abdul Rahman Yousef, a Saudi businessman.
The event also saw the distribution of prizes to winners of cultural contests conducted by the organization. V.J. Nasrudeen Alappuzha received the first prize (a laptop computer) in essay contest and Najeem Kochukalungu second prize (camera). The third prize went to T.H. Darimi and Zeenath Sajith who received mobile cameras.
Nabeel Nisar was the first-prize winner (laptop computer) in the Kingdomwide quiz competition as he scored120 points. Hamdan Ridwan won the second prize (movie camera) while Naveed Mohammed Ibrahim third place (mobile phone).
