Sidelights: Government workers busy at play on computer

JEDDAH: Fed up with workers playing computer games on the clock, the head of a local government department in Makkah instructed his IT team to purge all diversions from the system. The computers were cleaned of the little games that had been installed by the employees, but to no avail. Later it was discovered that some of the workers simply brought in games in their USB thumb drives, according to Al-Madinah newspaper recently. So the next time you’re in queue at some government department while the guy behind the glass seems to be in deep concentration as he stares into a computer screen, demand to see what it is he’s so engrossed with: Is he really trying to find your information “in the system,” or is he just completing the next level of Tetris?
