JEDDAH: Rotana Studios has signed a contract with Nabil Farouq, the author of the popular “Agent 001” series, through which Rotana has preserved the production rights for the movie.
Agent 001, an agent in the Egyptian intelligence, will be brought into life in this movie scheduled for release next year.
The series of novels is one of the Arab world’s best sellers. Each edition represents a new adventure of Agent 001 Adham Sabri.
A press conference took place in Cairo recently and was attended by Frederick Sischller, Rotana Studios chairman, Ayman Halawani, the general director of Rotana Film, Nabil Farouq, the author of the Agent 001 novels, and scriptwriter Mohammed Hefzi.
Farouq said he had received more than one offer to option his books, but he refused. But in Rotana he said he found a team capable of fulfilling his visions of how his work would end up on screen.
A star to play Agent 001 has not been named, but Farouq hinted that he would like to see a new face. The name of the movie has not been revealed.
