KOCHI: The UAE-based Emke Group is planning to invest 12 billion rupees to construct India ‘s biggest shopping mall to be named LuLu International Shopping Mall here.
The group headed by NRI businessman MK Yusuffali, which opened an International Convention Center (ICC) in Thrissur also plans an International Business School (IBS) in addition to the LuLu International Shopping Mall spread over 17 acres here.
LuLu, the flagship supermarket and hypermarket brand of the Indian-owned conglomerate, which runs 68 stores in the Gulf, is expected to open the Kochi mall in 2010. Currently the group operates supermarkets and hypermarkets in the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Yusuffali, who is also a director of the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) and the lone non-Arab director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, said the mall would have parking space for more than 3000 vehicles.
