JEDDAH: Crown Prince Sultan cited the Abdul Latif Jameel Community Services Programs — with its projects that offered 15,353 jobs for unemployed young men and women in the Kingdom in the first half of 2008 — as a model to be emulated by other businessmen in the Kingdom.
“We praise Allah and thank you for your social service as it has been producing excellent results. That also points at the right direction for public welfare services,” said the crown prince in a cable sent to Muhammad Abdul Latif Jameel, president of the ALJ programs. “While we laud your efforts we also hope that the businessmen in the country would follow in your footsteps.”
Jameel had said in a message sent to the crown prince earlier that the Bab Rizq Jameel (The Jameel Gate for Livelihood) project under the ALJ programs was planning to bring up the number of its branches to 20 by the end of 2010 with a monthly target of generating 200 employment opportunities and an annual plan of generating 50,000 opportunities.
Bab Rizq Jameel (the Jameel Gate for Livelihood) is one of ALJ’s welfare schemes for creating employment opportunities for Saudi youths.
