MUMBAI: The hard work put in by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad that set up 25 special teams to help the Gujarat police which yesterday led to the arrest of the mastermind in the bomb blasts across the country, was hijacked by the Gujarat police.
The Gujarat police claimed yesterday that the bomb blasts in several Indian cities have been “nearly” solved with the arrest of 10 hard-core activists of the splinter group of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
Referring to the press conference held in Ahmedabad last evening by Gujarat Director General of Police P.C. Pandey, an ATS official of the Maharashtra police said “it is unfortunate that we along with our state intelligence department network had done a hard work and extended all cooperation to the Gujarat police and even provided crucial information and intelligence that led to the arrest of the alleged accused. But there was not a single word of appreciation by the Gujarat DGP about us.”
Pandey claimed that blasts were planned and executed by the splinter group of SIMI which had created a new organization under the name of Indian Mujahedeen which was headed by Mufti Abdul Bashir, who was arrested yesterday morning in Azamgarh.
