RIYADH: The Indian Engineers Forum (IEF) organized a ‘Six Sigma Graduation’ ceremony here yesterday. A prominent social activist and businessman Nadeem Tarin, who is also a member of the IEF’s advisory board, distributed certificates among successful candidates including IEF President Owais Ahmad, who completed this professional course.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Wesam Halawani, managing director, Cantactics Canada, spelled out a new concept of leadership and vision. The event was also attended by a number of senior professionals including Dr. Ather Farouqui, member of the Board of Director, DPS Society Delhi, Meraj Mohd Khan, DPS principal, and Shamim Khan, chairman of Deccan Cultural Association.
IEF President Ahmad, who presided over the function, said: “An ideal engineer is not a scientist, mathematician, sociologist or writer but the one who uses the knowledge and techniques of any or all of these disciplines in solving engineering problems.” He said the IEF was completing 10 years of its operation this year. To mark the occasion, a grand function will be held in November, he added.
The certification for Six Sigma was organized in tandem with the Anexas Consultancy. In the first batch, 23 candidates completed the course. The keynote speaker was introduced to the audience by Faisal Ziauddin, another senior IEF member.
Suhail Ahmed anchored the evening, while Askandar Mirza and M.Z Nadeem closed the event with thanks and dinner hospitality.
