JEDDAH: Passengers at King Abdul Aziz International Airport (North Terminal) had to endure a wait of five hours last night when the new system implemented by the Passport Department malfunctioned briefly.
The situation developed after Maghreb prayers and was finally eased by 11 p.m. Though some flights were delayed, none were canceled.
A senior airport official, who did not wish to be named, said the new system was just one week old and this caused a lot of crush due to a large number of incoming and outgoing flights around that time.
“Things are OK now and we have been cleared for our flight,” one of the passengers, Sais, traveling on the Yemen Airways departing around midnight, said.
