RIYADH: The final round of Toyota Saudi Star Autocross Championship 2008 will be held at Al Reem Circuit in Riyadh for two days from tomorrow. This follows the first two rounds held earlier in Jeddah and Alkhobar.
Abdul Latif Jameel Company Ltd.-Toyota is the main sponsor of the championship supported by Mobile 1.
The drivers will be divided into seven groups. The drivers, with their cars, will be categorized into seven classes depending on the capacity and the power of engine, car size and year of manufacture.
The classes are: Super stock (SS) for ultra high performance sport cars, A Stock (AS) for high performance sport cars, PA — sport cars and GT’s, C Stock (CS) for small size compact cars, D Stock (DS) for intermediate size sedans 6. F Stock (FS) for sedans and coupes, and medium size coupes (BS). “A judge and 12 marshals around the track will control the track. If any driver hits the barrier, the marshals will flag him and he will lose one point,” Abdullah Bakhashab, motorsport developer and organizer of the event, said. “Toyota Saudi Star Autocross Race 2008 is another step forward to promoting and expanding motor sport in the Kingdom after the success of 2007 rounds,” he added.
