SRINAGAR: Ten people including seven Indian Army soldiers and three porters were on Monday buried alive in an avalanche near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of the north Kashmir Bandipore district, 60 kilometers north of state capital Srinagar.
District police chief Bandipore Sheikh Junaid while confirmed the incident yesterday, and said that three porters were buried alive in the Nowshehra Nar area in Gurez early Monday morning.
“An army search patrol was dispatched to the area to trace the missing porters. However, the patrol was also struck by the avalanche and buried alive,” Junaid told Arab News.
