THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two ministers touring the US to scout for investments in from the US and other developed countries have returned to the state claiming investment commitments worth billions of rupees.
The delegation led by Home and Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member, and Industry Minister Elamaram Kareem, left for the icon of capitalism last month on an invitation from a Malayalee group.
The delegation visited several companies including the manufacturing plant incubators and other devices for infant care of GE Healthcare. Kerala’s NEST group promoted by the US-based NRI Dr. Javad Hassan signed a cooperation agreement with the company.
The delegation also visited the headquarters of Marriott Corporation and held discussions with its senior officials about their plans for India and Kerala. Marriott is in the process of opening a large number of hotels in across India.
