Singapore Airlines, British Airways to resume flights

RIYADH: Singapore Airlines (SIA) will begin service from Riyadh beginning Dec. 14, while British Airways (BA) will resume operations from Saudi Arabia to the United Kingdom beginning March 29, 2009.

Announcing SIA’s operations, Hilary Fernandes, district sales manager, said that flights would operate four times a week, via Dubai using the Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

The flights will leave Riyadh at 2015 on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and arrive in Singapore at 1130 the following day. The airline is offering a promotional return ticket for SR1,999 for a period of two weeks from Dec. 14.

“The introduction of Singapore Airlines new service to Riyadh is a sign of our confidence in the tremendous potential of the Middle Eastern region,” Fernandes said, pointing out that despite the global financial crisis the Kingdom continues to attract businessmen from all parts of the world. The airline currently operates three flights a week from Jeddah via Abu Dhabi.

British Airways will resume flights from Riyadh and Jeddah to London Heathrow from March 29, 2009. Flights were available for sale yesterday at promotional fares to London and beyond.

The airline will fly five times a week from both Riyadh and Jeddah to Heathrow Terminal 5. Flights to Riyadh will be a Boeing 777 and Jeddah flights will use a Boeing 767.
