BEIRUT: Saudi poet Mei Kutabi launched her new album “Ashqat” recently in the presence of fans, media and social figures in Beirut. The Saudi Ambassador, Dr. Abdel Aziz Khoja, was also present.
“Ashqat” contains a bouquet of poems accompanied by music, which has not been tried previously in the Arab world.
Kutabi said: “I feel proud of the work because I tried very hard to weave in different styles. I added a blend of Eastern and Western music to the poetry which makes this work distinct.”
The album contains five stories of Arab women and each one of them carries the title of Ashqat to highlight women’s situations, explained Kutabi.
