JEDDAH: Pakistanis from different walks of life stressed the need of putting a united front to thwart any attempt to malign their country’s image and to protect its sovereignty and integrity.

Speaking at a function organized by Pakistan People’s Community, Jeddah City, to mark the 41st anniversary of the foundation of Pakistan People’s Party on Sunday, community leaders pointed out that “a conspiracy was being hatched to project Pakistan as a terror-sponsoring country, which is nothing but a blatant lie.”

A cake was also cut to mark the day. Speakers lauded the efforts and sacrifices of late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and their family for Pakistan and their commitment for democracy. In his presidential address, Riaz Bukhari reminded that Pakistan was always a victim of terrorism.

“We have lost hundreds of people due to acts of terrorism and it was also a terror attack which killed our leader Benazir Bhutto,” Bukhari said.

Bukhari, who is president of Pakistan People’s Community, Saudi Arabia, appealed to different sections of the community to forget their differences and join hands to fight the enemies of the country.

The function was held in the backdrop of Mumbai attack which killed around 200 people.

Pakistani expatriates rejected Indian allegations and warned against any misadventure with their homeland.

Ehsanul Haq of Pakistan Repatriation Council raised the issue of the stranded Biharis in Bangladesh and called for their speedy repatriation to Pakistan.
