JEDDAH: Passengers traveling through international airports in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah will not be allowed from Jan. 12 to carry liquid, gelatinous and compressed materials in their hand baggage, it was announced yesterday.
"We'll impose this regulation on Jan. 12 in cooperation with Interior Ministry agencies," said Abdul Hameed Hamad Abalary, a spokesman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
He said the ban covers all liquids exceeding 100 ml kept in glass or plastic and metallic containers as well as drinks, juices, perfumes, oils, cosmetics and toothpastes.
Abalary said the new regulation is being imposed in compliance with international civil aviation safety conditions. He said security agencies at airports would allow only essential things such as baby milk and medicine for patients and other humanitarian needs.
He urged all passengers traveling by the four airports to cooperate with security officers to implement the ban.
