JEDDAH: Yahya Hassan Al-Khosafi, a Saudi residing in Faifa, a township in the southern Jizan province, has set up a cable car to take his disabled son to hospital.
According to a report carried by Al-Watan daily yesterday, it cost Al-Khosafi SR5,000 to build the cable car. He uses the device to bring his daily needs from the market and to transport other members of his family.
Al-Khosafi decided to set up the cable car when he was unable to buy a car to take his son to hospital. The cable car runs on a one-kilometer long cable running from his house until Faifa General Hospital.
“I have to take my son almost every day to hospital for checkups and treatment,” he told the daily. “My difficult financial conditions forced me to invent the device,” he said.
“I use the facility not only to transport my handicapped son but also other family members whenever they fall sick,” said Al-Khosafi, who looks after an eight-member family.
