DUBAI: Aramex yesterday launched a “Deliver hope to the people of Gaza” campaign in the UAE and Jordan, extending logistics support for aid supplies to the victims of the recent attacks in Gaza.
Aramex has linked up with the Hashemite Relief Commission in Jordan to deliver urgently needed medical supplies, dry food and blankets to more than 1.5 million Palestinians in the Gaza strip. Majid Al-Futtaim Group is partnering with Aramex in the campaign by providing collection points at major shopping malls in the UAE including the Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Center, Ajman City Center and Sharjah City Center. The campaign will run until Jan. 11.
Fareed Abdel Rahman, vice president, divisional asset management for MAF Properties, says that the Majid Al-Futtaim Group is committed to providing as much assistance as possible for the people of Gaza. “It is imperative that we deliver aid as quickly as possible to those in need. We at the Majid Al-Futtaim Group, in conjunction with Aramex, are urging visitors to show compassion by donating much-needed relief items in the specially assigned collection boxes placed at our malls,” he added.
“We would like to thank our customers in advance for their usual generosity.
“They have always supported us in such efforts. This time around, their donations will enable us to provide vital relief to the people of Gaza.” he added.
“The need for urgent aid for more than 1.5 million Palestinians in the Gaza strip is overwhelming and Aramex is committed to fulfilling its responsibility in such difficult times,” said Hussein Hachem, CEO, Aramex, Gulf region.
Aramex’s logistics network has helped people in disaster-afflicted areas around the world.
In 2006, Aramex joined forces with the Higher Relief Commission (HRC) in Lebanon to manage the logistics and distribution of international aid materials following the bombing of the Beirut International Airport.
During the “Aid Lebanon with Us” campaign, Aramex managed to collect and ship more than 500 tons of aid materials.
Aramex also supplied aid to the victims of the Pakistan earthquake in 2006 and was also heavily involved in getting support to people affected by the 2004 Tsunami in South Asia.
