— 15,000+ — The number of user accounts administered by KFUPM'S information Technology Center (ITC). This includes user accounts for faculty, staff, students, tenants of Dhahran Techno Valley, employees on projects, guests, visitors and some alumni. Even before students enter on-campus housing for the first time, e-mail and Web accounts are made available to them with the coordination of the Deanship of Student Affairs.

— 10,000+ — Fixed Network Connections. KFUPM's physical network is ever growing. In addition to all academic buildings, every room in the student dorms has two fixed network connections enabling easy and immediate access to the university network and the World Wide Web.

— 400 — Wireless Access Points on the university's Wi-Fi network. KFUPM's wireless network is contributing to a highly mobile environment with usage growing four-fold in one year. In terms of demand, at any given time, up to 200 concurrent users have accessed the network through a wireless client, such as a laptop or PDA.

— 385 — Faculty working on their office computers or accessing university resources from their homes. This boost to faculty productivity was not possible just a few years ago.

— 300 — Faculty and administrators who are authorized users of KFUPM's Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. The VPN enables authorized users to connect to KFUPM resources anywhere in the world. Even resources that used to require that staff and faculty be physically inside the campus, such as library databases and the eBusiness suite, are now made available over the VPN to select users.

— 164 — Servers in KFUPM's Data Center. No longer scattered throughout the university, all university administered servers are consolidated in the data center. This has led to increases in utilization, availability, performance and cost savings.

— 62 — PC Labs. These labs make 2,900 university provided computers available to students at a ratio of one workstation for every three students. This is in addition to the student owned PCs.

— 55+ — Terabytes of available storage in KFUPM's Data Center. This storage is essential to support business initiatives such as the university's ERP applications, plus provide storage for educational and research data and network back-up. Centralizing the servers and storage was the first step in establishing a business continuity center.

— 1 — High Performance Computing (HPC) Cluster. The HPC cluster is the first of its kind within Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region. KFUPM's HPC cluster can support applications which run on either Linux or Windows. The dual boot configuration enables administrators to power on any particular server or group of servers depending on the application which needs to be run.
